SIHF Healthcare – Greenup Celebrates National Health Center Week
SIHF Healthcare is celebrating National Health Center Week 2017 (NHCW), August 13-19, with public health screenings across southern Illinois and charity donation drives at its more than 30 health centers.
What began as a pilot project during President Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty in 1965, today’s community health centers serve more than 23 million people nationwide, many of whom are uninsured or underinsured. As the second largest Federally Qualified Health Center network in Illinois, SIHF Healthcare operates more than 30 health centers in the region. SIHF Healthcare in Greenup, Ill. offers Family Medicine and Internal Medicine services. It is located at 302 North Mill Street.
“At SIHF Healthcare in Greenup, my team and I are so grateful to be a part of this community and to have the opportunity to serve the families of Cumberland County,” said Linda Darling-Carlen, health center manager of SIHF Healthcare – Greenup. “National Health Center Week is yet another opportunity for us to make a positive difference and help those in need.”
In recognition of NHCW, the health center is collecting school supplies for the Embarras River Basin Agency, Inc.’s School Supply Program. The agency is located at 115 S. Kentucky St. in Greenup, Ill. and distributes school supplies to children in need. The health center is also having a coloring contest for children, and will be passing out treat bags and serving healthy snacks to its patients.
